Salt Lake Building Capital Campaign

SLC Cap Campaignweb

After 13 years, tens of thousands of teaching moments a year, and putting over 10,000 people on their own bikes, we need a permanent home in Salt Lake, and you can help!

We need a building that ensures that we won’t go anywhere for generations to come: a location that is suited for our five core programs and expandable as we grow to fill future need. A larger, purpose-designed space will allow us to offer Earn-A-Bike, the Open Shop, and volunteer programs concurrently and efficiently—morning to night—every day of the week.

This project is our biggest undertaking to date, and to do it we need municipal support, community partners, in-kind construction, property and service donations. But most important, we need your financial donation.

We are aiming to raise $1.2 million in the next five years, so that we can secure a building that provides for our present need while offering the potential for expansion at a mortgage payment that the Bicycle Collective can afford. That’s a big chunk of money but, unless we receive some special consideration from property owners, that’s what we will need to obtain a permanent home.

We’ve seen what a building all of our own can do in Ogden: reduce overhead and allow for permanent, thoughtful investments in our infrastructure. Our successful purchase and renovation of a derelict site in Ogden gave us the skills (and equity!) we need to pull off a similar project for our flagship location.

We are considering new construction or refurbishing a great old space (just like the bikes donated to us!). We will ideally have 12,000-13,000 interior square feet at our disposal, half finished, half shell, with vehicle access and storage.

Any amount is great, but the best way to support our building would be through recurring monthly donations. Donations to the capital campaign are tax-deductible and kept separate from our general operating funds.

Please contact our executive director at with any connections. Thank you for your involvement!
