Interested in improving your wrenching skills or starting from scratch? The Salt Lake City location offers FREE instruction from the Park Tool School from 6-7:30 each Monday Volunteer Night at the SLC Community Bike Shop. Each week we will pick a different chapter (schedule below), and provide you with bikes to practice on, so don't bring your own. We will have the textbook, Park Tool's Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair, for sale during the classes. Please bring paper and pen or pencil to write notes. While it would be beneficial to attend all the lessons, feel free to pick and choose since each class topic is taught independently of the others.

If you really get into it, inquire about volunteering your new-found knowledge during our Do-It-Yourself Nights (we really need confident women for Women's Night), or as a Youth Instructor in our Earn-a-Bike classes. We can teach people to be technical, but we can't teach them to be personable, so if you like people, we can turn you into a great mechanic.
If you have any questions contact our Shop Manager.

The weather man says its cold outside, snow or not, but our Community Bike Shop stayed warm thanks to Entheos Academy. They built bikes, but not for themselves, in the true spirit of the holidays they made them for fellow classmates in need. Their little hearts touched us with a warmth that still remains as well as a lesson we can all learn from.

We had the opportunity to work with YouthCity and Entheos Academy again during this session, in addition also started working with the YMCA. Now I know why the song says it’s fun to stay at the YMCA. These kids had a zest for life and a willingness to learn. I enjoyed them so much and walked away feeling as if I learned more from them. They are a reminder that life should be fun and full of laughter. I’d like to thank all of the groups that participated in this session. They keep our organization going.

Date and Time: December 2, 2011 – 5:00PM to 7:00PM
Location: 49 North 1100 West #2; Provo, UT 84601
The Bicycle Collective will be hosting a Grand Opening to celebrate the launch of the Provo Bicycle Collective Location. Please come visit this exciting new space to learn about their programs, enjoy light refreshments, and win in the prize drawing.
“I’m very excited to see Provo climb the ranks of Bicycle Friendly Communities. Opening a Bicycle Collective was our the next logical step and a perfect way to channel all the momemtum and energy of local bicycle advocates and volunteers,” said Zac Whitmore, Director of the Provo Bicycle Collective. “Much like the other Bicycle Collective locations in Salt Lake and Ogden, Provo will offer a Community Bike Shop for guided Do-It-Yourself repair; supply Bikes for Goodwill Organizations through a referral network; and eventually offer the Earn-a-Bike mechanics classes and Trips for Kids mountain bike rides for youth.”
The mission of the Bicycle Collective is to promote cycling as an effective and sustainable form of transportation and as a cornerstone of a cleaner, healthier, and safer society. The Collective provides refurbished bicycles and educational programs to the community, focusing on children and lower income households.
