Program 1: The Birth of Big Air
October 1st @ 7PM
It’s about time Mat Hoffman’s story was told and now it has been done
by just the right people. Directed by longtime friend Jeff Tremaine
and produced by Priya Swaminathan, Spike Jonze and Mark Lewman, the
film pays tribute to this BMX legend. It includes interviews with
supporters and fans, like Evel Knievel. This film shows us the
sacrifice it takes to be one of the greatest athletes in the world.
Program 2: Riding the Long White Cloud
October 2nd @ 9PM
Seven professional skateboarders attempt to cycle New Zealand's North
Island, looking for skate spots.
Program 3: Bike Shorts
October 2nd @ 5PM
See the BFF website for more shorts, but here is an example:
Jitensha: A bicycle dismantled. A life retrieved.
Program 4: The Cyclocross Meeting
October 2nd @ 7PM
A film about the currently exploding US cyclocross scene, and the
emerging Japanese cyclocross scene. The Cyclocross Meeting follows
Barry Wicks and Adam Mcgrath to top US races in New Jersey and Oregon,
and then to Japan, where they compete with seven time Japanese
National Champion Keiichi Tsujiura, and the up and coming talent Yu
Takenouchi. Also featuring 35 year veteran bicycle framebuilder
Nakagawa.
Program 5: Urban Bike Shorts
October 2nd @ 9 PM
See the BFF website for more shorts, but here is an example:
Lucas Brunelle travels the globe documenting alleycat races and every
year he presents a new film at the BFF. This year for our tenth
anniversary Lucas teams up with Benny Zenga to produce a film that
takes it to another level. Lucas is the undisputed master of
documenting alleycats. From the vantage point of his custom helmet-cam
his footage serves as insight into the best urban riders in the world
in their natural element. Now Benny Zenga turns the camera back on
Lucas Brunelle to bring a new dimension to this rare talent and
‘international man of mystery.’
