In 2007, the Salt Lake City Bicycle Collective started a fund for Marty Kasteler, a local cyclist that was intentionally hit by a car. The donated funds were given to Marty and his family so that they could concentrate on the recovery process.

Now another friend of the Collective is in need.

Emiliano "Emilio" Hidalgo, a courageous community leader, wrecked on his bicycle Sunday the 20th of September 2009, bouncing along the pavement until finally he was stopped by hitting the undercarriage of a parked car. During the crash, Emilio broke several bones and crushed the left side of his skull, leaving him in a coma. He currently resides at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray and is still comatose.

Emilio is an outstanding person and an exceptional and influential member of Salt Lake City's bicycle community. Emilio is a major contributor to the SLC Bicycle Collective, working with the young and old alike. His absence is felt by his family, including his three young children; friends; and Salt Lake City's bicycle community.

Please consider making a donation, they are all tax deductible.
