We offer mechanical training, as well as volunteer opportunities to practice and reinforce what you learn. We know that practice makes perfect, which is why we have plenty of bikes that don't belong to anyone ready to be your learning tool. In addition to our mechanical training we also offer riding classes. While most people know how to balance and pedal, we teach what people need to know to be safe, be prepared and comfortable to start commuting. Regardless if the last time you rode was yesterday or yesteryear, we have a class to fit your needs. We even help people learning to ride for the first time, young and old. The process is fairly simple: lower the seat so your feet are flat on the ground, take off the pedals, and then kick and coast around a parking lot for a few hours. This separates the balance from the pedaling, once someone can coast as far as they can kick -- they are ready for to put the pedals back on. |

The mission of the Bicycle Collective is to promote cycling as an effective and sustainable form of transportation and as a cornerstone of a cleaner, healthier, and safer society. The Collective provides refurbished bicycles and educational programs to the community, focusing on children and lower income households.
