"[TFK] really has been one of the best activities we’ve been able to provide for the kids, so I have really appreciated your work and efforts in all of it!"

Youth Programs

Youth Programs at the SLC Bike Collective have a beautiful way of tapping into the natural love children have for bikes, getting them out of their usual old routines, broadening their horizons with the seeds of healthy lifelong habits.

Earn-A-Bike

boy wrenching on a white bicycle Our Earn-A-Bike classes teach repair and safety while instilling a sense of self confidence and pride. We teach in a way that promotes a sustainable and healthy lifestyle.

Our students take apart and then learn how to rebuild a bicycle from scratch using the proper tools and techniques under the supervision of role models who double as qualified mechanics. Students will leave with a fully functioning refurbished bicycle at no cost to them -Just DIY and FUN!

The program consists of youth ranging from 8-17 years old meeting for 6-8 week sessions twice a week in 1-2 hour classes. We work with various after-school programs such as Youth City and Boys and Girls Club.

Trips for Kids®
SLC TFK LogoTrips for Kids® Salt Lake City was Established in 2008 with the realization that too many youth grow up in the valley without experiencing the abundance of natural beauty and fun that our local mountains have to offer. Our goal is to get these youth outdoors and share with them an appreciation for nature, exercise, and mountain biking.
Trips for Kids rides consist of 2-5 hour trips, meeting up to 14 youth at a given trailhead, and teaching them how to mountain bike. We provide the mountain bikes, transportation of bikes, water bottles, Cliff Bars, first aid, experience, and instruction. We work with after-school programs, elementary/high schools, and Boy Scouts of America to name a few.
Volunteer

As a community bike shop we rely on you, the volunteer, to keep each and every Bike Collective program going. We are always looking for Earn-A-Bike Instructors and Trips for Kids Ride Leaders. No experience necessary, just a love for teaching and mentoring. We provide volunteer instruction so that you have the necessary skills to teach.
