"It certainly has been one of my favorite things to do over the last year I have been volunteering at the Bicycle Collective shop to grab a great old school roadie off the rack and refurbish it into good basic transportation for somebody."

The Salt Lake City Bicycle Collective has launched the Bicycle Education Project, with funding support from UDOT, to teach bicycle safety to kids and adults of all ages and abilities. By teaching the necessary skills to ride with traffic and avoid accidents, the Collective hopes to increase safety for existing bicyclists and encourage more people to go by bicycle.

Twelve candidates have taken the Road I course and will attend the instructor seminar to become League Certified Instructors (LCIs). The League of American Bicyclists trainer Bruce Mackey will teach the weekend-long seminar with the help of current LCIs here in town.

Our Mission

The mission of the Bicycle Collective is to promote cycling as an effective and sustainable form of transportation and as a cornerstone of a cleaner, healthier, and safer society. The Collective provides refurbished bicycles and educational programs to the community, focusing on children and lower income households.
